Terms of Service | Restaurant Scout

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Restaurant Scout (the "Service"), operated by us ("we," "us," or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Restaurant Scout helps you discover restaurants and related information. Some features rely on third-party services (for example maps and sign-in providers) under their respective terms.

2. Third-party AI (OpenAI)

Certain features use artificial intelligence services operated by OpenAI, LLC("OpenAI") via the OpenAI API. This processing happens on OpenAI's systems, not only on your device.

What is sent and why:

Menu extraction: Content from restaurant websites you choose to analyze (such as HTML, linked PDFs, or images) may be transmitted to OpenAI so that OpenAI's models can interpret that content and return structured menu information for display in the app.
Personalized dish suggestions: Text you provide describing your food preferences, together with menu text for the restaurant, may be transmitted to OpenAI so its models can generate tailored dish and drink suggestions based on that input.

OpenAI's use of data is described in its own documentation and privacy policy (openai.com/policies/privacy-policy). We do not control OpenAI's infrastructure or retention practices.

Your use of AI features: The Service includes a brief on-screen notice where OpenAI-backed features are offered, and fuller detail in this Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you use menu extraction or personalized dish suggestions, you understand and agree that the categories of information described above may be sent to OpenAI for processing as explained there. If you do not want that processing, do not use those specific features.

3. Accounts and acceptable use

You are responsible for activity under your account. You agree not to misuse the Service, attempt to disrupt it, or use it in violation of applicable law or third-party rights.

4. Disclaimers

The Service and any AI-generated output are provided "as is." AI results may be inaccurate or incomplete. Menus, prices, and availability change; always confirm with the restaurant. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.

5. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the Service or third-party services including OpenAI.

6. Changes

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms where permitted by law.
